Chemical Brothers Release Don’t Think on DVD

The Chemical Brothers: theatrical release, “Don’t Think”, will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray March 27, 2012 with a Limited Edition 10” Book format (DVD/CD) containing exclusive images set for release April 10th, 2012. The live performance was filmed at Japan’s Fujirock Festival last summer and directed by Adam Smith having been released in 600 cinemas in 30 countries across the globe February 1st.

Hangout Festival Lineup Announced

In a growing music festival scene, the lineup for the Hangout Festival has been announced. This year’s lineup includes Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jack White, Skrillex, Dave Matthews Band, Wilco, String Cheese Incident, The Flaming Lips performing Dark Side of the Moon, Alabama Shakes, Dispatch, Steve Winwood, Chris Cornell, Gogol Bordello, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Mac Miller, Flogging Molly, Coheed & Cambria, Paul Oakenfold, G. Love and Special Sauce, Randy Newman, Dr. Dog, Young the Giant, Cage the Elephant, Dawes, M. Ward, Yelawolf, Switchfoot and many more acts. The Hangout Festival will take place from May 18 to 20 in Gulf Shores, AL, where there will be two big stages on the beach, an additional stage and an air-conditioned dance tent. Tickets go on sale this Friday (2/10).

Red Hot Chili Peppers Release Interactive Video

The video for the Red Hot Chili Peppers‘ latest single, “Look Around” just got interactive. The interactive version gives control over the camera angles and zoom capabilities as well as hidden links to photos and videos. Adoption of the interactive video format has been slowly growing, with Danger Mouse, Devo and Arcade Fire previously releasing such videos in previous years. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees are preparing for their North American Tour, which will kick off in the spring in support of their latest album, I’m With You.

M.I.A. Disrupts Super Bowl Halftime Show; NBC & NFL Apologizes

NBC and the NFL have issued an apology for the inappropriate gesture and language by M.I.A. during Madonna’s set during the Super Bowl halftime show. In what should and shouldn’t have been a surprise to some who know her unpredictability, M.I.A. flipped off the cameras while singing, “I don’t give a [expletive]” during Madonna’s new single, “Give Me All Your Luvin’” and on-stage with the “Vogue” singer and Nicki Minaj. An immediate press release was sent out by the NFL and NBC: “There was a failure in NBC’s delay system,” said Brian McCarty, the league’s vice president of communications. “The obscene gesture in the performance was completely inappropriate, very disappointing, and we apologize to our fans.” “The NFL hired the talent and produced the halftime show,” NBC said. “Our system was late to obscure the inappropriate gesture and we apologize to our viewers.” Other guest performers included LMFAO, who did a medley of their hits “Party Rock Anthem” and “Sexy And I Know It” with Madonna’s hit song, “Music”, while Cee Lo Green joined for the final moments during “Open Your Heart” and “Like A Prayer”.

Sasquatch 2012 Lineup Revealed

The lineup for the Sasquatch! Music Festival has been announced. The music festival will be going into its 11th year Memorial Day Weekend (5/25-5/28) at The Gorge in George, WA featuring headliners Jack White, Beck, and Bon Iver along with the Shins, Girl Talk, Portlandia Live, Feist, St. Vincent, the Walkmen, Spiritualized, Shabazz Palaces, and dozens more. Tickets go on sale to the general public Saturday 2/11 at 10 AM PST. A two-day Live Nation pre-sale begins a few days earlier, Wednesday 2/8 at 10 AM PST. The Darkness Release First New Song In Six Years

The multi-platinum British group, The Darkness has reunited and have released their first new song in six years. “Nothin’s Gonna Stop Us” is currently available for free as a “Thank you” for fans and the accompanying video is also out now. In support of the band’s reunion and new material, The Darkness will embark on a short North American tour, many of the dates have already sold-out in advance.

Florence Welch Nearly Burns Down NYC Hotel

Oh Florence. Stop. Being. So. OVERDRAMATIC.

Florence Welch may not come off as a “party animal”, but the lead singer of Florence and The Machine has revealed that she accidentally burned down The Bowery Hotel in New York City. During a recent trip to the Big Apple, where she performed an acoustic showcase, the “Dog Days Are Over” singer told Q magazine, “I think I must have had about 17 Dirty Martinis. I lost my phone and ripped my dress very badly.” “I accidentally set fire to The Bowery Hotel because I’d left a cinnamon tea light burning. I came back to the hotel, passed out in my ripped dress – no phone, chipped tooth – came round and there was black stuff all over the wall, my book had melted on the bedside table and there was a bucket of water on the floor. Actually the last scene you want to wake up to with a hangover. Half the room was singed.”

To make matters worse, Welch’s publicist noted the large amount of the bill for the drinks incurred during the dressing room party after her performance. While the fire damage caused less than $500 worth of damage, the backstage party that included Kanye West, Lykke Li, Welch, the doormen, “most of Lower Manhattan, whoever” accounted for a large sum of money. The number of dirty martinis on the bill shows how rock stars can handle their liquor.

M.I.A. has released an official version of her 2010 track, “Bad Girls” that was part of her mixtape, “Vicki Leekx”. Produced by Danja, the accompanying video is said to be produced by Romain Gavras, who also directed the controversial, “Born Free,” slated to be released on Friday. M.I.A.’s fourth album is still under works and is scheduled to be released sometime this summer.

Jack White Debuts New Solo Track

As per usual, Jack White continues cranking out new music. This time, a taste of his first solo album, Blunderbuss, has been released. “Love Interruption” was released today from the album that is produced by White and recorded at Third Man Studio in Nashville. White has described the material as “an album I couldn’t have released until now. I’ve put off making records under my own name for a long time but these songs feel like they could only be presented under my name. These songs were written from scratch, had nothing to do with anyone or anything else but my own expression, my own colors on my own canvas.” Blunderbuss will be released on April 24th.

Red Hot Chili Peppers Release Video For Next Single

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have released the video for their next single, “Look Around”. Directed by Robert Hales, the video shows lead singer Anthony Kiedis in fine physical shape, as the video was shot prior to his foot injury. Kiedis is seen performing his trademark noodle-dancing throughout the video. “I can say that the band were great to work with — real gentlemen — and it was a genuinely collaborative process,” director Hales told Spinner.com.

With Kieidis’ recovery from his injury, The Red Hot Chili Peppers plan to hit the road in March to promote their latest album, I’m With You.
