Wanna be in the Pumpkins? If you know how to play guitar or bass, you might have a shot at being in the band.
Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins will be holding open auditions for a new bassist and keyboard player because another member of the Smashing Pumpkins quit last week.
Like Hole 2.0, Corgan has none of the original members in the band. Unlike Eric Elanderson and Melissa Auf De Mar; Darcy, James Iha, and Jimmy Chamberlin do not have any desire to return to their former band. So far, Auf Der Mar has not commented whether or not she wants to rejoin either band.
Last year, longtime drummer Jimmy Chamberlain quit the band. Corgan found his new drummer in the same manner: by holding open auditions.
“We were lucky enough to find drummer Mike Byrne through an open audition process. So why not open the doors again to anyone who might be interested for the bass or keyboard position,” reasoned Corgan.
If you want to be in the band, send your resume, background information, photos and performance web links to PumpkinsBass@gmail.com or PumpkinsKeys@gmail.com. The deadline is March 31st, 2010.
In other news, The Billy Corgan band (aka Smashing Pumpkins 3.0) just released ‘A Stitch in Time’ from their upcoming album Teargarden By Kaleidyscope.
