Chemical Brothers Release Don’t Think on DVD

The Chemical Brothers: theatrical release, “Don’t Think”, will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray March 27, 2012 with a Limited Edition 10” Book format (DVD/CD) containing exclusive images set for release April 10th, 2012. The live performance was filmed at Japan’s Fujirock Festival last summer and directed by Adam Smith having been released in 600 cinemas in 30 countries across the globe February 1st.

Hangout Festival Lineup Announced

In a growing music festival scene, the lineup for the Hangout Festival has been announced. This year’s lineup includes Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jack White, Skrillex, Dave Matthews Band, Wilco, String Cheese Incident, The Flaming Lips performing Dark Side of the Moon, Alabama Shakes, Dispatch, Steve Winwood, Chris Cornell, Gogol Bordello, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Mac Miller, Flogging Molly, Coheed & Cambria, Paul Oakenfold, G. Love and Special Sauce, Randy Newman, Dr. Dog, Young the Giant, Cage the Elephant, Dawes, M. Ward, Yelawolf, Switchfoot and many more acts. The Hangout Festival will take place from May 18 to 20 in Gulf Shores, AL, where there will be two big stages on the beach, an additional stage and an air-conditioned dance tent. Tickets go on sale this Friday (2/10).

Red Hot Chili Peppers Release Interactive Video

The video for the Red Hot Chili Peppers‘ latest single, “Look Around” just got interactive. The interactive version gives control over the camera angles and zoom capabilities as well as hidden links to photos and videos. Adoption of the interactive video format has been slowly growing, with Danger Mouse, Devo and Arcade Fire previously releasing such videos in previous years. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees are preparing for their North American Tour, which will kick off in the spring in support of their latest album, I’m With You.

M.I.A. Disrupts Super Bowl Halftime Show; NBC & NFL Apologizes

NBC and the NFL have issued an apology for the inappropriate gesture and language by M.I.A. during Madonna’s set during the Super Bowl halftime show. In what should and shouldn’t have been a surprise to some who know her unpredictability, M.I.A. flipped off the cameras while singing, “I don’t give a [expletive]” during Madonna’s new single, “Give Me All Your Luvin’” and on-stage with the “Vogue” singer and Nicki Minaj. An immediate press release was sent out by the NFL and NBC: “There was a failure in NBC’s delay system,” said Brian McCarty, the league’s vice president of communications. “The obscene gesture in the performance was completely inappropriate, very disappointing, and we apologize to our fans.” “The NFL hired the talent and produced the halftime show,” NBC said. “Our system was late to obscure the inappropriate gesture and we apologize to our viewers.” Other guest performers included LMFAO, who did a medley of their hits “Party Rock Anthem” and “Sexy And I Know It” with Madonna’s hit song, “Music”, while Cee Lo Green joined for the final moments during “Open Your Heart” and “Like A Prayer”.

Metallica Tease Up-Coming Announcement

In a short video, Metallica is preparing to announce something in which we’ve “never seen them” in. Speculation ranges from a movie to a DVD compilation to commemorate their 30th anniversary as a band. The video, titled “Save the Date” indicates the band will make their announcement on Tuesday, February 7 at 11am Pacific time. The movie may be the strongest possibility since the band noted on its website in January, “there is indeed a 3D project in the very early stages of production! We wish we could tell you more right now, but we don’t have all the finer points nailed down just yet. What we can tell you is that we are planning on being in a theatre near you sometime in 2013 and as you hear us say ever so often, this will be the space for all the details as we finalize them.”

Sasquatch 2012 Lineup Revealed

The lineup for the Sasquatch! Music Festival has been announced. The music festival will be going into its 11th year Memorial Day Weekend (5/25-5/28) at The Gorge in George, WA featuring headliners Jack White, Beck, and Bon Iver along with the Shins, Girl Talk, Portlandia Live, Feist, St. Vincent, the Walkmen, Spiritualized, Shabazz Palaces, and dozens more. Tickets go on sale to the general public Saturday 2/11 at 10 AM PST. A two-day Live Nation pre-sale begins a few days earlier, Wednesday 2/8 at 10 AM PST. Rock On The Range Lineup Announced

The lineup for Rock On The Range 2012 has been announced. The sixth year of the annual rock festival will be held May 18-20 at Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, OH and feature performances from: Incubus, Rob Zombie, Shinedown, Marilyn Manson, Five Finger Death Punch, Slash, Megadeth, Chevelle, Cypress Hill, Mastodon, Theory of a Deadman, Volbeat, Down, The Darkness, Halestorm, Escape The Fate, P.O.D., Lacuna Coil, Adelitas Way, Black Stone Cherry, Cavo, Attack Attack!, Trivium, Bobaflex, Falling In Reverse, Redlight King, Aranda, Emphatic, Otherwise, James Durbin, Black Tide, Kyng, 12 Stones, SOiL, Rival Sons, Eve To Adam, and Ghosts of August.

The Darkness Release First New Song In Six Years

The multi-platinum British group, The Darkness has reunited and have released their first new song in six years. “Nothin’s Gonna Stop Us” is currently available for free as a “Thank you” for fans and the accompanying video is also out now. In support of the band’s reunion and new material, The Darkness will embark on a short North American tour, many of the dates have already sold-out in advance.

Florence Welch Nearly Burns Down NYC Hotel

Oh Florence. Stop. Being. So. OVERDRAMATIC.

Florence Welch may not come off as a “party animal”, but the lead singer of Florence and The Machine has revealed that she accidentally burned down The Bowery Hotel in New York City. During a recent trip to the Big Apple, where she performed an acoustic showcase, the “Dog Days Are Over” singer told Q magazine, “I think I must have had about 17 Dirty Martinis. I lost my phone and ripped my dress very badly.” “I accidentally set fire to The Bowery Hotel because I’d left a cinnamon tea light burning. I came back to the hotel, passed out in my ripped dress – no phone, chipped tooth – came round and there was black stuff all over the wall, my book had melted on the bedside table and there was a bucket of water on the floor. Actually the last scene you want to wake up to with a hangover. Half the room was singed.”

To make matters worse, Welch’s publicist noted the large amount of the bill for the drinks incurred during the dressing room party after her performance. While the fire damage caused less than $500 worth of damage, the backstage party that included Kanye West, Lykke Li, Welch, the doormen, “most of Lower Manhattan, whoever” accounted for a large sum of money. The number of dirty martinis on the bill shows how rock stars can handle their liquor.

UPDATE: M.I.A. Releases Video Ahead of Super Bowl Appearance

M.I.A. has released an official version of her 2010 track, “Bad Girls” that was part of her mixtape, “Vicki Leekx”. Produced by Danja, the accompanying video is said to be produced by Romain Gavras, who also directed the controversial, “Born Free,” slated to be released on Friday. M.I.A.’s fourth album is still under works and is scheduled to be released sometime this summer.
